Nashville - Pinewood Social, Steadfast Coffee, Peg Leg Porker
about 9 years ago

Walking down Main Street I can hear live music blaring out from every honky tonk bar (loud, rowdy country music venue) . This is exactly the Nashville I had imagined.

New Orleans - Boucherie, Manhatten Jack, District Donuts Sliders Brew, Seed, French Truck Coffee, Willa Jean Bakery, Toups's Meatery

San Antonio - The Granary Brew & Que, Lick Ice Cream.

We have only spent a day here and we got questioned by a local as to 'why on earth we would bother visiting San Antonio'. I think a day trip would be quite sufficient.

Austin - Luke's Inside out, Houndstooth coffee, Easy Tiger, Gourdoughs, Odd Duck

Austin offers no relief from the heat but it does have plenty to offer. The food trucks, the music. The atmosphere has a vibrant and excitable feel.

Dallas - Weekend coffee, Pecan Lodge, Cool Haus, Oddfellows

For some reason people start laughing, telling us we must be insane when we say we'll be travelling across Texas in the middle of summer. How hot could it really be?

Wiveton Hall Café

April 23, 2015

When I think of honest food, I think about home grown, locally sourced & cooked by people that have a real passion for what they do.

One of the first places that comes to mind is the excellent Wiveton Hall Café, sandwiched between the beautiful North Norfolk coast and their "Pick Your Own" strawberry fields, this café produces some of the best.

I was first introduced to this place by Georgia a few years ago after a long walk along the beach with our dog Raspberry (yep, that's right, we have a dog named after a piece of fruit). Their ever changing menu which includes unusual pàtes, vegetable curries and my favourite, the Pork belly ciabatta with an apple and rhubarb sauce..... Oh and the famous Wiveton salad ( basically like 6 salads in one!) Is definitely worth a try.

The place always gives me this sense of inspiration and enthusiasm for life, every trip is different and just the little things like watching someone cleaning out honey combs from hives or a fleeting chat with the owner about the beautiful weather and the fact that there always seems to be some baby animals or birds waddling around the farm, just fills me with great satisfaction. Thoughts of planting veg in the garden, sourcing local suppliers and cooking with what's available in the area, sounds like a recipe for happiness to me!

And that isn't all, they also have a great little shop/deli next door. Selling seasonal fruit grown only 5 meters away, delicious homemade Granola, handmade dog treats and a HUGE selection of in house made jams.

Whatever the weather, wiveton hall café is a place not to be missed on a day out by the north Norfolk coast, or south Norfolk (we drive for over an hour it's that good).
